MacNeil Farm and Ranch is a small, family-run ranch in the Piney Woods of East Texas raising pure Butler Texas Longhorns, along with a small number of beef cattle. We appreciate the history, character, and individuality of Butler cattle and are committed to preserving these genetics while thoughtfully breeding for the qualities we enjoy.
We believe there is more than one way for a great Butler longhorn to look. Our goal is to preserve the exceptional genetics and heritage of pure Butler cattle while embracing the variety in horn, color, conformation, and character that has long made these cattle distinctive.

Preserving pure Butler genetics is central to our program. Some of the older greats represented within our herd include VJ Tommie, Concho 24, VJ Nestor, Delta Rockette, and Jackie Lynn 90, along with more recent greats of Hunter MC 69, Trinity R3, Little Ace Swamp Guinea CF42, and Carmon Santana B R3.
We select for sound feet and legs, good body and capacity, and cattle well suited to East Texas conditions.
Horn and Individuality
One of the things we enjoy most about raising Butler Longhorns is that no two are quite alike. We appreciate different horn shapes, directions, twists, and bases, and love pairing great cattle from different programs to see how their genetics come together and what unique look the next generation may bring.
Intelligence, personality, and a good disposition are all qualities we value in our cattle. We favor calm, manageable animals, along with attentive mothers, good milk production, and cows that consistently raise healthy, thriving calves.
MFR Spanish Sangria was raised here on our farm and out of our foundation female Chantilly Lace 26 and sired by Spanish Desperado MC 96. From her structure and distinctive horn to her disposition and individuality, she is a wonderful example of the qualities we value and hope to carry forward in our herd. We're especially proud to have watched her grow into a 2024 Futurity Winner.
We occasionally offer heifers, young bulls, and cows (who have replacement daughters). Tell us what you're looking for and we'll let you know what's coming up. Or if you want to come by and see us just send an email! We are always happy to talk longhorns.
